And they did chase
The ‘Lady’s Grace’
Across planets and starry sea

For we had said
We’d rather be dead
Than endure such tyranny

Come gaseous giant
Or colony reliant
Upon our smuggled wares

We fly for truth
And life uncouth
Freebooters without cares

They cornered us
Out back of Uranus
But we fought our way out

An ambushed failed
Off the moons of Crail
So we sent a defiant shout:

“You can hound us,
Seek to confound us,
But we’ll never turn about

This life we live
Is only to give
Folk a cause to follow

Your time will come
And we’ll be the ones
To prove this empire hollow.”

Oh, they still chase
The ‘Lady’s Grace’
Across planets and starry sea

We are the crew
Bringing rebellion’s grue
To the purveyors of tyranny.
A chat with one of the other staffers on 365 Tomorrows led to me undertaking to write a dialogue only adventure piece, but while I was contemplating that, this came along.

I hope it entertains.

I can imagine that being chanted (the cadences almost demand a chant-like delivery!) in a smokey, ill-lit den of iniquity on a space station orbiting one of the moons of Saturn, being started in a quiet voice in a corner but ending in an all-out chorus :)

Permissable. One too many sherberts has been the cause of more misquotes and subsequent warfare than historians will ever admit. *chuckle*
